Ornette Coleman: Free Jazz

€500.00
Rather than easing the listener in, Free Jazz kicks in the doors and refuses to explain itself.
On this record, Ornette Coleman abandons conventional structure and lets collective improvisation unfold as a single, unbroken event.
Two quartets collide and converse, producing a sound that feels less composed than discovered, raw and urgently alive.
The music resists comfort, replacing swing with friction and certainty with risk.
The album is named after the then-nascent Free Jazz movement and while critics and fans are divided between love and hate, its place in the Olympus of jazz is undisputed.
